EXCITING CHANGES ARE HAPPENING AT RB FAMILY ORCHARD

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, from 11-5 IS THE FIRST 'APPLES AND ARTS' PRESENTATION BY BEAR VALLEY SPRINGS ARTS ASSOCIATION TO BE HELD HERE AT THE ORCHARD..

Artisans will be on premises showcasing, their works along with a petting zoo plus other children friendly entertainments. The local chapter of Knights of Columbus will be selling their wonderful tri tip sandwiches and grilled hot dogs. Of course we will have plenty of our own delicious cider and all other items we are known for. While we are NOT u-pick, we happily refer you to our neighbor orchard, Kolesars', for picking. We hope your schedule allows a visit on this day as we are anticipating an outstanding fun filled family day.

WE ARE PROUD TO STATE THAT IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY, WELL ATTENDED AND ENJOYED BY ALL

RB FAMILY ORCHARD PROUDLY FEATURES THE FOLLOWING FALL MENU

OUR OWN, PRESSED ON PREMISES, RAW FRESH CIDER!

This is the process: 1)Apples are soaked in water. 2)Apples are rinsed as they ride up conveyer to grinder. 3)Hammermill crushes apples into a mushy substance called pomace. 4) Pomace is wrapped in special fabric and becomes a bag. Each bag is sandwiched between boards which constitutes a rack. 5)The rack is pressed, extracting the juice, which gravity flows into a temporary holding container. 6)Juice is then pumped into larger storage tanks in the reefer, from which we hand fill the sizes we offer to you. You get fresh apple juice with no preservatives or water added.

Twenty four years of pressing awesome Tehachapi apples into pure and unadulterated cider!
Already frozen is available for purchase.

EXCITING NEWS! While we do not make hard cider, we have sold our sweet cider to many home cider hobbiests over the years. Last year, Bravery Brewing, of Lancaster used our cider to make their Pumpkin Apple Pie Belgian Ale. It was so well received, owner Brian Avery will be making and bottling more this fall, with our cider of course! Due to licensing laws we can't sell it at our orchard, but you can visit Bravery Brewing's website, Braverybrewing.com, for information and hours of operation.

DRIED APPLE RINGS

This apple treat is made by us nightly during apple season only. Demand always outpaces our ability to supply this popular product, so please accept our apologies if we are sold out at the time of your visit.

We take Tehachapi grown apples, lightly flavor them in a cinnamon/sugar mix, then dehydrate them. The result? A tasty, chewy snack that pleases more folks than we can supply!

DAILY FRESH BAKED APPLE CRISP

Apple Crisp is baked fresh daily. We offer two sizes, the family size that serves between six and eight, depending on how heavy handed your portions are, and the individual size. Take it home or come and have some here are the orchard.

So many of you have made a fall tradition of returning to us to enjoy our apple crisp with family and friends. The Long Clan meet here at the orchard and bring their own table decorations.

BARB'S NUTTY APPLECAKE--A POPULAR FALL ITEM

All we can say is yum! yum! A very moist and rich cake with apples and walnuts incorporated in the dough. Frosted with cream cheese icing.

Look for it in the refrigerated case where the cider is.

To insure your purchase of this item, advance ordering is advised as it is not as readily available as the crisp.

PUMPKIN BREAD

Yes, another little known 'secret' and favorite at the orchard. Freshly baked mini loaves of pumpkin bread with walnuts. Moist and delicious.

Buy extra because this pumpkin bread freezes nicely and you'll have something handy to thaw quickly for holiday entertaining.

APPLE BUTTER

If you are not familiar with apple butter, it is a jam type spread that is delicious on toast, bagels or with a peanut butter sandwich! It can also be used as a flavoring in cake icings or fillings, added to fruit dips, or added to sauces when cooking chicken or pork--use your imagination. Perhaps the term 'apple butter' might have derived from the fact that this particular fruit jam spreads like butter.

Available in 14 oz. jars.

The Cherry Butter is another toast topping treat. Mildly but delicously spiced. The same can be said for our Pumpkin Butter. Apple Cinnamon Jelly has a beautiful clear color featuring a pronounced spicy sweet taste.

APPLE SYRUP * APPLE CHIPOTLE SAUCE *

Our lightly flavored Apple Syrup makes for a great change of pace on your pancakes or waffles. It is also a great flavoring to add into sauces for chicken or pork. Try it--you'll like it!

Eight years ago we introduced Apple Chipotle Sauce. Its zesty, zingy, full bodied flavor has made our grill patron afficianados rave. How to use? Ribs, Chicken, Pork, Fish--just a fabulous all-around condiment. Some have been known to eat it by the spoonful. :)
